INTRODUCING...... Our brand new CLOGGING program at Main Street!
After countless requests and many conversations with parents about how "we hope to add it in the future", it is with much excitement that we announce the start of our new clogging program! That's right! Starting this summer we will add clogging to the dance disciplines that we teach. We have not offered clogging in the past because we did not have the right person to head up the program. We are passionate about teaching dance correctly (and of course having fun doing it), and we have searched long and hard for the correct person to start and steer our program. After a couple of years of searching, we found her right here in Fuquay!!!
It is with great excitement that we introduce Shannon Lockamy. Shannon earned her Associate's and Bachelor's degrees in Liberal Studies from peace College in Raleigh, where she concentrated in Dance and Physical Education. Shannon started teaching clogging in high schools in the early 90's. Her clogging background includes competition and exhibition in both traditional and contemporary styles of clogging. She has danced with the Kildare Kloggers, Dixie Dew Cloggers, the NC State Wolfpack and NC State Wolfpack Alumni Cloggers all of which were championship teams, with championship trophies from every competition. She traveled throughout the eastern United States from Maine down to Florida and as far west as Texas. Although winning in multipule compeitions, winning 1st place at the NC State Fair in solo competition is her favorite. Some of career highlights are dancing at the US Olympic Festival Opening Ceremonies in 1987 on stage - with Charlie Daniels and his band, meeting Mikhail Baryshnikov, dancing at the Disney Days of Music in 1994 in Orlando Florida as well as dancing for various charities and Senior Centers. Shannon is a wife, and mother of two girls, and we welcome her to the Main Street family!!!
